About: I'm a photographer, a visual artist.

I found this love through a kind man: Thomas Lambert (my High School) photography teacher. Life took me away from this expression of myself, and ironically, life has brought me back to it.

In recent days, weeks [and months], I've found this unique, eclectic group of men and women, boys and girls - photographers. I've been inspired, lost and I've sat in awe. I've seen photographs of places I'll never be able to find, but now I know exist. I've read stories beneath the capture(s) that made me want to do better in this world. I've seen, through the vision of others that life has meaning and pain; that our world is beautiful and dangerous; that people matter and cultures are to be cherished.

I see things and have vision as well. It is my intent to relearn the craft, master the fundamentals and change ideas through the power of the lens [by my vision, by what I see - the way I see it].

29 Ways to Stay Creative
18. Stop Beating Yourself UpOne of the biggest challenges to Creativity is that creature that lies within us. You know, we can be our own [internal] assassins – quietly killing and sabotaging our own Dreams simply because we see and [sometimes] are prepared for hindrances “outside” of us but not realizing that it’s Me Fighting Me! I’m jackin’ up my own self. Today, take another liberating step in being the Creative You (in Life and Art – because Life imitates Art) and Stop Beating Yourself Up!
p.s. this is a SELF PORTRAIT – that’s Me fighting Me. And this is my 100th Photograph in My Project 366 (Project 366 is where I take 1 photograph everyday for 1 year).

6. STOP TRYING TO BE SOMEONE ELSE’S PERFECT
Whether in art, life, relationships or worship you will never be perfect – so stop it! It’s a trap; an illusion that cannot be attained. This is not a thesis for excuses, but rather a declaration of Freedom. If the Good Lord wanted you perfect, you would have been Jesus – and you’re not. So embrace You, be your own perfect 10! This is where your Creative dwells – in you being the best you that you can be and enjoying it. Whatever your expression is [or is to be] on the Earth, no one can do it like you. One great 20th century philosopher (Dr. Seuss) said, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” The only thing that the Universe requires you to be is a better You.

29 Ways to Stay Creative 5. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE Creativity rises up by participation/practice. If you’re a writer - write; a photographer - shoot; a singer - sing, hum…; a musician - make some noise; a creative - make something! Don’t just think about the craft or read about it or talk about it (and this you should do).  But at the end of the day will you be found guilty of Being what’s in your Heart?

Kim | 070/366
This is Kim.  Kim is running but is starting to slow down.  She’s 30 years old, used to be a size 22 at 238lbs [I saw a photograph!] and has two beautiful bi-racial babies [Makenzie and Tabitha].  She says, “I’m trying to put my life together”.  I asked how and she responded, “I’m actually trying God!  In fact, he’s been good to me”.  Certainly, she didn’t know she was talking to a Pastor and of course I didn’t let on.
I encouraged her that God is an interesting One.  She told me a bit more about herself and then shook her head and said, “I’ve been through a lot”.  And with that I stated, “[you’ve been through a lot] and you’re still here!  Your very existence and presence speaks of Purpose.”  That statement soaked in for a moment.  Then she said, “Wow!  That was powerful; you should be a preacher or something”.  I smiled.
She’s off to Barstow, CA and volunteered in saying that she would be going to Bible Study on Wednesday night [tomorrow].
